Natural Herbal Remedies For Anxiety
Many people suffer from anxiety and it can be an occasional problem or it can be one that occurs regularly. When consulting a physician they will generally decide that a prescription medication should be prescribed. What they neglect to tell the patient in many cases is that medications such as Xanax or Valium are addicting and will have some side effects and withdrawal symptoms. These are two of the most widely prescribed medications for anxiety.
There are many natural remedies that have been used for hundreds of years and while the physician should be consulted before taking these types of remedies they also do not have the side effects or the withdrawal symptoms that conventional medications have. It is wise to speak to the physician prior to taking these as some may do harm rather than good depending on a patient’s medical history.
Some of these herbal remedies that can be taken for anxiety are:
Passionflower: This calms the nerves and is a good choice for a person with less severe anxiety.
Kava Kava: This is one of the herbal remedies that should not be taken by patients who have liver problems. This remedy is one that can take effect shortly after taking it but should not be used everyday.

These are a few of the many herbal treatments that are known to have calming properties and this type of herbal treatment for anxiety has been used for hundreds of years back to a time when anxiety was explained as nervousness. Physicians grew their own medications in their yard to treat their patients, there were no drug manufacturers to rely on and so it is these types of herbal medications that were used.
In the past the first of what we would think of, as drug manufacturers that sold their herbs to doctors were monks and another religious group called Shakers. What can be found from this is that in some of the drugs that were used after manufactured drugs became what physicians relied on is that many were made with herbal properties. These manufactured drugs with herbal properties were used for many years until drug companies began manufacturing syntactic drugs. These are now what is often relied on by physicians because the doctor no longer has a back yard garden of remedies.
